A well crafted take on Clive Barker’s horror classic Hellraiser (1987) that lacks the nastiness of the original. Where the Cenobites of old felt like escapees from a sex club, dripping with sweat and stinking of cum, 2022’s demons look like body modification enthusiasts ready for a fashion shoot. Equally there’s a sweetness in the story, the choices of the main character, that strips out the grimness of what’s happening.
